This is an example of a blog article. It is visible on both the frontend and backend site, as such you should probably delete it and replace it with something more appropriate for your users.
To post articles to this blog you must first log into the front end. Blog articles are user contributed content and as a result will be available on the front end immediately upon posting.
The "DemoUser" used to post this article has been disabled on the backend. To delete the account, go to the Home link in the upper left frame, go to Contact Manager and click the search button. You can select and delete the contact from there. Additionally, if you want to allow others to post articles or comments to your blog, you can add contacts for them in the contact manager and add an entry in the Website Accounts section on the edit Contact screen. You must grant the users "administrator" rights to the "default" group for them to post articles. If they are a "user" of the "default" group they can post comments.
As for the rest of the page, edits that you make on the preview side will not be visible on the live site until you publish them. To see what is currently shown on the live site click the Live Site tab at the top.
To edit content, just click the (edit) links next to the item you would like to change.
On this page, you can edit:
- a hotspot in the upper left corner where you can upload your company logo. It will automatically be resized.
- a title at the top of the page.
- an account strip, for membership sites in the upper right
- the block of text you are reading now.
- the blog settings below. (Note: To post articles to the blog you must log into the frontend through the hidden login page.)
- a list of links at the bottom of the page
To edit other pages use the navigation bar in the left frame.
Once you are satisified with your changes, select Publish tab on the top and click publish.
To add a new page, click on the Add Page link in the upper right of the left frame. You will be asked to give the new page two names, one which is used in the navigation menu on the left and one which will be used in the web address of the page. Typically you want the Navigation name to be more readable while the web address name should be short. You can also provide Meta Tags for the page including a title and keyword. When first starting out make your pages of type text to create plain content pages.
You can create and delete pages at will. Please do not delete pages which are currently published. Deleting pages affects both the live and preview sides of the site
If you are running a business website, take a look at the Legal Documents link in the left frame.
IMPORTANT: Some issues to be aware of:
- Deleting pages deletes both preview and publish pages. In a future release, deletes will be scheduled and will not take effect until the delete is published.
- Before finishing your session, please click on the Live Site tab before leaving or make sure to log out of the backend, otherwise you will continue to see the preview side when you come back.
- Sometimes when you click on the Publish tab, it does not reflect the page you were last editing. To make sure the Publish tab has the right page, first select the page from the left frame, then click on the publish tab.
These issues will be fixed in an upcoming release. See the releasenotes file for more information.
